Paula Jean Brackins

d. November 21, 2024

Spanish Fort

On November 21, 2024, Paula Brackins left behind the tent of her earthly body, and moved into a permanent dwelling prepared especially for her in heaven by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paula loved her family and often spoke affectionately of each of them. She was born March 2, 1965, and was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Julia Faye and J.V. “Papa” Rigdon, and her father, James Edwards Brackins.

She is survived by her sister, Gayle Jordan, brothers Gerome Brackins (Donna), David Brackins (Shanda), and her twin brother, Paul Brackins (Teresa); three daughters, Shellie Teague (John), Kellie Isbell (Steven), Julia Haub (Christian); six grandchildren, Josie Teague, Carson Teague, Brooks Isbell, Bennet Isbell, Knox Teague, Sadie Byrd Teague.

For many years Paula ran her own business, Eastern Shore Upholstery, but her favorite “job” was being the pianist for Daphne Baptist Church. Paula had a special gift for music with a finely attuned ear – if she could hear it, she could play it! She loved Southern Gospel music and could play almost all the standards. She was also involved in and gave leadership to many other activities and ministries of the church.

Paula was a glowing example of someone who kept the Great Commandments, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.” She always strived to be a blessing to everyone around her, and even when things were not going well for her, she remained a confident optimist, and always had a word of encouragement for others. Even though her eyesight was failing over the past few years, Paula’s spiritual sight remained clear. She saw the God-given potential in each person and helped many to realize that potential.

A celebration of Paula’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 26 at Daphne Baptist Church, 1515 6th Street, Daphne. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00.
