Paul Perfect, 94, of Fairhope, passed away at home on February 2, 2025, with loved ones by his side. He was born March 9, 1930, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to parents Moore C. and Marie Perfect.
After graduating from Fort Lauderdale High School, he studied mechanical engineering and played trumpet in the band at Georgia Tech, graduating in 1952. After college, he joined the Navy as an Ensign and served aboard the USS Saint Paul CA-73 as their engineering officer during the Korean War.
After the Navy, Paul moved to Panama City and started work as an engineer with International Paper. There he met his beautiful wife, RoseMarie, and they began their 68-year journey together filled with love, travel, and family. They both enjoyed music and shared a love for the water.
Family was important to Paul, but he was also very active in improving his community. He led the charge in building the Boy Scout lodge at the Fairhope United Methodist Church. He served as the Commander of the Fairhope Chapter of the Power Squadron three times and was described as “the glue that held the Power Squadron together.” He was also a founding member of the Baldwin Pops where he enjoyed playing the trumpet for many years. He did everything with dedication and passion, and he will be remembered for his service to the community.
Paul had a kind and generous soul and touched many hearts in his lifetime. He was known for his strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for his family and community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his wife, RoseMarie Perfect of Fairhope; his daughter Paula and Tom Johnson; his son Alan and Michelle Perfect; five grandchildren, Eric Reddington, Gary Reddington, Sara Richards, Rene Reddington, and Kevin Perfect; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Moore C. Perfect, Jr., sister Mary L. Perfect, and son Gary Perfect.
Family and friends will gather Friday, February 7, 2025, 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, and burial to follow at Fairhope Memorial Gardens with military honors.
