May 22, 1931 – December 25, 2024
Patricia Ann Halliburton Hayne of Foley, AL, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day 2024, surrounded by her beloved children. She was 93 years old.
Born on May 22, 1931, in Black Diamond, Alberta, Canada, Pat grew up in Alexandria, LA, where she graduated from Providence Academy. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, before marrying her high school sweetheart, Christopher Lindsey Hayne, Jr., on September 2, 1950, beginning a love story that spanned nearly 72 years.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and deeply committed to her Catholic faith. She played a vital role in building her husband’s business, Air Charter, Inc., at Esler Field in Alexandria, all the while raising a family and giving back to her community. Among her fondest memories was her time living in Boise, ID, when Chris was stationed there flying for the U.S. Forest Service. She was an active member of the Junior League of Alexandria, the Alexandria Garden Club, and the Green Thumb Garden Club. A dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, she served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and volunteered at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital.
After retiring with Chris to coastal Alabama in 1986, Pat continued her lifelong dedication to service. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, an active member of the Ladies of St. Margaret, the Foley Women’s Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. For many years, she brought Holy Communion to the elderly each week, embodying her deep faith and compassion for others. And together with Chris, they sailed many times to the Bahamas.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Lindsey Hayne, Jr.; her parents, George James Halliburton and Mable Lee Edmonds; her brother, James Cole Halliburton; and her sons-in-law, Camille B. Graugnard and John R. Peters, Jr.
She is survived by her children: George Ann Hayne Peters, Patricia Hayne Rainey, and Christopher Lindsey Hayne III; her grandchildren: Jean Baptiste “Jack” C. Graugnard II (Erin), Lindsey Graugnard Schafer (Allen), C. Hayne Rainey (Megan), and William P.
