Ollie Lavail Gomillion

Ollie Lavail Gomillion, known affectionately as Ollie, passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 85 in Mobile, Alabama. He was born on April 4, 1938, in McKenzie, Alabama. Ollie was a vibrant individual who was full of life, quick-witted, and known for his generosity. He held a deep love for his family, cherishing every moment with them. Ollie is survived by his beloved daughters, Susie Tapley (Jeff), Sabrina Pierce (Greg), Ashley Thelen (Jon), and his ten wonderful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jones Gomillion. Ollie attended Murphy High School for his education. Following his schooling, he proudly served in the US Army Reserve for six years, demonstrating his dedication to his country. In his professional life, Ollie owned and operated an auto parts store called Mills Auto Parts. His commitment and expertise in the industry made him a respected figure among his peers. Beyond his professional life, Ollie found solace in his hobbies, which included yard work where he received yard of the month award three times in one year. These activities allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in the simple pleasures of life. A ceremony to honor Ollie's life will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home located at 19698 S Greeno Rd, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, October 23, 2023. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with funeral services following at 1:00pm. An entombment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In memory of Ollie, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This charitable organization was close to his heart, and donations in his name would be greatly appreciated.
