WILLIAMSDAPHNE, AL. Nelda Faye Crosswhite Williams, Age 79, a loving wife, mother and wonderful grandmother “Memaw” . Who loved Jesus and went to His mansions on January 3, 2020. Nelda and Doug meet at a Methodist Youth Camp Relay. A short courtship led to the wedding of two young teenagers that lasted 63 years.Nelda was born in Jasper, AL and then moved to Mobile, AL during World War II. Then her parents James Roy and Ludie Mae Crosswhite moved to Jackson MS. For 46 years Nelda and her husband Dr. James Douglas Williams pastored churches in Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama and Florida, and for six years Dr. Williams served, with his wife by his side as a district superintendent for Alabama-West Florida Conference. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Roy and Ludie Mae Crosswhite a daughter, Racheal Leigh Williams and a sister, Ora Mae (Robert) Hale. Survivors include her husband of Sixty-Three years, Dr. James Douglas Williams; one son, James Skip (Myra) Williams of Daphne, AL; daughter, Ora D. Williams Johnson of Robertsdale, AL ; seven- grandchildren and five great- grandchildren, Sarah (Michael) Byrd, Katie (Greg) Williams, Jamie ( Anthony) Powell, Zoe Grace Williams, Douglas Johnson, Thomas (Kayln) Johnson and Ashley Stewart; great grandchildren, Lauryn, Taylor and John Michael Byrd, Christian Williams, Bentley and Joshua Stewart; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Daphne United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of the service.
