Nathaniel "Nate" Raymond Goodwin

d. April 9, 2020

Nathaniel “Nate” Raymond Goodwin, 42, from Elberta, AL, went to his heavenly home on April 9, 2020 after a valiant battle with cancer. He is now celebrating the feast of victory with his Heavenly Father. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Nate was born to Jim and Mary Goodwin, in Springfield, OH on November 20, 1977. He spent most of his childhood in Fort Wayne, IN where he attended Blackhawk Christian School and graduated from Snider High School in 1996. He graduated from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia in 2004 with a degree in pastoral ministries. Nate married his best friend, Christa Wood, on May 18, 2002, in Elberta, AL., and would have been married 18 years this May. Nate worked at AT&T in retail management, then transitioned to Aaron’s Lock Service as general manager until his death. He was blessed with a daughter and son, whom he greatly cherished. He was passionate about and involved in his children’s lives and community in many ways. He served as a soccer coach, helped out with the Hands to Love Camp, was the community pastor and involved in the leadership of Genesis Church. Nate loved his family, friends, being on the water, and fast cars. He left this Earth just like he lived it: God first, family second, and everything else third. Nate is survived by his wife, Christa, Elberta, AL; son, Garrett; daughter, Kendall; parents, Jim and Mary Goodwin, Elberta, AL; sister, Christina (Mike) Gill of North Aurora, IL; brother, James (Amy) Goodwin of Fort Wayne, IN; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Nate’s Life will be scheduled at a later date. The family gratefully accepts donations to Hands to Love in memory of Nate.
