Paulette Freeman-Shenk 77, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 after her year-long battle with bladder cancer. Paulette was born on July 20, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama. She was a 1961 Murphy High School graduate and worked for 20 years at University of South Alabama for Anesthesia Associates. Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Pierce Lee Reeves and Modine Green Helton; husbands, Laverne Freeman (43 years); Thomas Joseph Sable; and sister, Gloria (Gene) Ann Townson. Paulette is survived by husband, Richard T. Shenk (9+ years); son, Micah Kurk Freeman, and daughter, Jennifer (Terry) McRee; grandchildren, John (Melissa) McRee, Terra (Justin) Koen, Sable (Taylor) Marston, and Madison Freeman; 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. Paulette was known for her amazing cooking skills, and you always left with a full stomach and armful of leftovers to take home. If you asked for the recipe, she never knew because she cooked it differently and "Paulette'd" it up with her own kick of spices. Shopping and sales is what excited her, always looking forward to the newspaper so she could get the latest coupons! Paulette talked using her hands and knew how to throw down some dice for games and also used those same hands to help you navigate in the car- because no one knew the right directions, except for her! Her grandchildren initially called her "Gran Gran," which lovingly grew to Granny. She will be DEARLY remembered by her family and friends as the Queen of the Jungle!
