Mitchell “Mike” Shiver, 73, a lifetime resident of Spanish Fort passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther Shiver, a sister, Joyce Wright and a sister-in-law, Patricia Shiver. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Beverly Shiver; daughter, Jennifer Neal of Bay Minette; 2 sons: Derek (Connie) Boothe of Fairhope and Nathan (Michelle) Shiver of Bay Minette; sister, Betty (Jerry) Wilson of Spanish Fort; brother, Kenneth Shiver of Silverhill; 4 granddaughters: Amber Lynn (Chris) LeBatard, Julia Anne Boothe, Savanna Neal and Halle Shiver; many other friends and relatives. After graduating Fairhope High School in 1966, Mike attended Faulkner State Community College, then joined the United States Air Force in 1968, honorably serving his country in Okinawa, Japan and Vietnam. In 1972, he finished his tour of duty and went to work at what was then the L & N Railroad as a switchman. Later, he became a locomotive engineer and hauled freight between Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA. He retired after 36 years, in November 2008. Not only did he serve his country and his employer with loyalty and fervor, but served his Lord with that same mindset and spirit. Once, while serving as a faithful Sunday school teacher, it was noted that he had a love for others, serving in his church and most notably, his passion for the King James Bible. Well-studied and versed in prophecy, Mike was always a help and a blessing to his pastor, fellow members, and the community. His work at the Prodisee Pantry was a blessing to many. Funeral services will be held at Bible Baptist Church on Saturday, November 28, 2020 beginning at 11:00am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Wilson Cemetery in Spanish Fort.
