Michael Welch Vance 1953-2025

 Michael Welch Vance, proud father of three children, of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away at the age of 71 at Thomas Hospital on March 16, 2025.

He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1953 to John Thomas Vance and Anna Lou Shively. Mike attended Winnipeg Bible College in Otterburne, Manitoba, Canada before moving to Fairhope in 1978. Mike and his family moved to Fairhope following his father and took a job at Hughes Aircraft in Foley, Al until it closed. Mike made the decision to start his own business and created Vance and Sons Cabinets. He had a love for carpentry that he had passed down to his sons.

Mike was a devoted and loving father to Justin, Jeremy and Jarrett, who dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Mike was dedicated to helping those around him. He was passionate about working hard and instilled this in his kids and the people around him. Mike took great pride in being a grandparent to his six grandchildren, Anikin, Henry, Benton, Blaine, Claudia and Anne Carson.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Lou and father, John (Skip) Thomas Vance.

He is survived by his loving sister, Marcell Myers of Warsaw, Indiana.

A private service for the immediate family and close friends will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 22, 2025. It will be held at the Stapleton Baptist Church in Stapleton, Alabama. A Celebration of Life gathering, that is open to everyone, will take place from 11:30am to 1pm. Come meet with the family members and share stories and memories with each other as we remember Mike.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your church in his memory.
