Daphne

Michael Lee Coursey, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend was born on June 7, 1954, in Kansas City, KS. He departed this life on November 5, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew him.

Mike was a man of passions and pursuits that defined his character. He was proud of his career in the elevator industry where he made many treasured friendships and where he acquired the skills that he put to use “piddling”. Mike could often be found working on many different projects in his workshop and was always ready to help anyone. An avid Hunter, and fisherman, he often relished the tranquility of the great outdoors, sharing countless adventures with friends who became like family over the years. His love for nature, mirrored his generosity and kindness, traits that made him a pillar in the community.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Donnajean Coursey, with whom he built a life filled with shared dreams and laughter, in Daphne, Al.  Their partnership was a testament to love's enduring power. Mike leaves behind four loving children: Heather Coursey Henderson (Max) of Goldsboro, NC; Carol Turberville (Charles) of Spanish Fort, AL; Michael Lee Edington, Junior of Daphne, AL; and Michael Lee Coursey Junior of Mobile, AL. As a father, he embraced each moment with his children, offering guidance, wisdom, and love that shaped their lives. The joy he found in his family was reflected in every warm smile and affectionate hug they shared.

In addition to his immediate family, Mike is also survived by his sister, Janice Olauson of Des Plaines, Illinois, and his brother, Craig Coursey Jefferson, Georgia. Unforgettable memories strengthened the bond between siblings, reminding us all of the importance of kinship.

Mike was also a proud grandfather, treasured by his three grandsons who brought immense joy to his life. He embraced his role as a grandfather with excitement, taking every opportunity to create new adventures and lifelong memories with them.

As we remember, Michael Lee Coursey, we celebrate a life well lived, characterized by love, friendship, and a spirit that will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those that he touched. His memory will continue to resonate in the stories shared the laughter echo, and the moments cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Mike, your kindness and zest for life will be dearly missed, but your spirit will forever remain a part of us all.
