Mary Sue Stephens, age 89, went to her heavenly home while surrounded by loved ones on November 10th, 2024, in Fairhope, AL.
Sue is survived by her husband, Earl Stephens, and her sister, Betty Martin; and her four children, Earl Stephens Jr (Amelia), Carolyn Hatcher (Mark), Vic Stephens (Genny), and Greg Stephens (Dana); her many grandchildren Virginia Stephens, Will Stephens (Rachel), George Stephens, Celeste Sitton (Brad), Susan Joyner (David), Alan Stephens (Sonya), Samantha Powell (Jacob), Drew Stephens (Britny), and Emily Stephens; and her four great grandchildren Thomas Stephens, Landon Sitton, Reagan Sitton, and Weston Powell; along with her nieces and nephews and many loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, Youel and IV Anderson.
Sue was born on November 1st, 1935, in Coffee Springs, AL, to parents Youel and IV Anderson. After high school she went on to Troy University and graduated with a Masters degree in Education. She was a beloved middle school math teacher for 26 years in Baldwin County. While at Troy University she met the love of her life, Earl Stephens, whom she married on December 17th, 1956. They were blessed with 68 devoted years of a Godly and inspirational marriage.
Sue’s memorial is November 30th, 2024, at 10:00 am at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church. Donations to Big Oak Ranch would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
According to Sue, “If you want to walk the heavenly streets of gold, you gotta know the password - ROLL TIDE ROLL!”
