Mary J. Sanford, age 66, a resident of Grand Bay, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Mary, know by most as “Janie”, was a bright star with eyes that rivaled Sinatra’s. Her laughter was infectious, her wit sharp, and her cooking was legend. Having worked as one of the most sought-after Medical Transcriptionists in Mobile for years, she turned her hand to the art of floristry, working with well-known and respected florists such as Zimlich’s. She flourished in her craft-there wasn’t a wreath, an arrangement, a real or silk flower that didn’t look more perfect and more beautiful than when she was done arranging them. She was a singer in a number of bands, a diva, a fashionista. Janie loved gaming, music, the beach, the morning stillness. Her relationship with God, and her faith in His love, grace, and perfect timing, was strong, steadfast, and true-she gave All Glory to God. She was His first, and He loved us all so much, He shared her with us-our Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and Friend. She was our “Wiznerd.” She was beautiful. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patty Amelia Gibson, her father, Benjamin Cardwell, and her sister, Linda Amelia Cardwell. She is survived by her daughters, Linda A Perry, Lacy C. Hough (James), and Lisa M. Pitts; sister, Patti G. Baker (Steve); grandchildren, Adam Z. Pitts, Bethany B. Walker, Alyssa K. Walker, M. Ethan Walker, Aidan Z. Perry, and Daisy M. Frazier; great-grandchildren, Stella R. Sasser; and many other loving relatives and friends. ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 19698 GREENO RD.
