Mary Joan Weninger Nowell

Mary Joan Weninger Nowell (“Mary Jo”), 87, a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Mary Jo was a member of the Foley Elks Lodge and the American Legion for many years. She was a self-proclaimed Professional BINGO Player and an avid Alabama football fan. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nowell.

She is survived by three daughters, one son, four grandchildren and one great-grandson: Cindy Stewart Phillips (Rick) of Gulf Shores, AL; Cheryl Stewart Carlisle (Ernie) of Saraland, AL; Patti Stewart Barchie (David) of Daphne, AL; son Kenny Lamar Stewart (Faye) of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Bryon Allsup (Katie); Shannon Allsup; Brandon Hubbard (Joi); Jackson Stewart, and one great-grandson Max Allsup. Her family and many loving friends cherished her.

Visitation will be held at Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, Alabama on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. 

A private interment will follow in Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama.

To honor Mary Jo’s memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of choice.
