Mary Christina Hirschfeldt, born in Tampa, FL and resident of Daphne passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mary married Robert Hirschfeldt in Venezuela, where she was under contract with Rockefeller Foundation. Mary taught school in Daphne for 32 years and during that time, she worked as a recruiter for the migrant school program. She volunteered as a Spanish teacher at Christ The King for 15 years. She was proud of the fact that her late husband was a Holocaust survivor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hirschfeldt; a sister, Santina Hart; two brothers, Anthony Guarisco and Leonard Guarisco. Mary Is survived by a son, Larry (Anne) Hirschfeldt of Spanish Fort; daughter, Veronica (Peter) Pecorino of Pembroke Pines, FL; brother, Philip Guarisco of Fairhope; five grandchildren, Mark Hirschfeldt, Christina Evans, Michael Hirschfeldt, Sarah Hirschfeldt and Heath Pecorino and six great grandchildren. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Christ The King Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass.
