A memorial service for Mary Louise Gamble Seefeld, age 99, will take place at 11:00am Friday, February 16^th, 2024, at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope, Alabama.  Mary was born November 23^rd, 1924, to Walter Gamble and Letha Taylor Gamble of Moselle, Mississippi.

Mary passed away peacefully in her home February 8, 2024, in Fairhope. She grew up in Mississippi and graduated from Biloxi High School.  Mary dedicated her life to making a home for her husband Walter and her children.  She was very involved with the Girls Scouts and was actively involved with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Mobile and later Saint Stephen Lutheran Church of Shreveport.  Sewing was a lifelong passion, and she became an accomplished quilter later in life.  While raising her family she sewed most of the children’s clothes, even sewing a Mardi Gras gown in one day for a ball that night.  Gardening was another passion; she had a garden at every home and always canned vegetables and sweet pickles. 

Mary had a wonderful marriage to Walter for 66 years.   They loved spending time with their children and especially their grandchildren remaining close to them throughout their lives.  They enjoyed a full life together that included extensive traveling, camping, square dancing and many new adventures including zip-lining at the age of 93 and even talking Walter into going with her.  

Some of  Mary’s most noted characteristics were her faith, kindness and positivity.  She always looked on the bright side of things and found humor in adversity, even laughing about the fact that she lost her short-term memory and so now everything was new to her again.  

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Walter and survived by her four children, Betty Haynes (John), Kathryn McFadden (Bill), Karen Hill (Bruce), and Fred Seefeld (Virginia); six grandchildren, Patrick Murphy (sons Rhodes and Mickey , daughters Eve and Grace), Elton Graugnard (Wife Melanie Mendenhall and daughter Imogene), Nicolle Graugnard, Jason Counts (wife Morgan and son Hudson and daughter Margot), Megan Toler (husband Ryan and daughters Molly,  Hazeleigh and Rylee), Chris Counts and Sarissa Brown.
