Mr. Marvin G. Maudlin, born on July 9, 1927 in Royal Oak, Michigan, and recent resident of Gulf Shores, Alabama died on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Foley, Alabama and survived by his wife, Lanier, his children, Dr. Daniel Maudlin, Deborah Lynch, Dona Marie McGovern, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by three step-children, seven step-grandchildren.
Mr. Maudlin was a veteran of World War II, and was in pilot training as the war ended in 1945.
Mr. Maudlin was a graduate of Michigan State University, and spent the majority of his working years in marketing. He was an officer of J. Walter Thompson, which was the marketing arm of the Ford Motor Company.
He also owned and operated his own marketing firms from 1975 – 1990. He played professional baseball in 1947-1948 with the Cleveland Indian Organization. He loved sports, having been very active in baseball, basketball, football, golf and tennis, and was the recipient of the Morrison Trophy in this high school graduating class, which was the recognition of class outstanding athlete.
Marv was an avid traveler visiting countries around the world including Australia, China, Russia, Egypt and even the Falkland Islands.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army.
Memorial service to be scheduled at a later date.
