Mark Calivas, 36, left this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born November 1, 1984, in Manhattan, NY. His parents, Helene Calivas and Alan Kaufman, predeceased him. Mark attended the Alabama School of Math and Science in Mobile, where he excelled academically. After his mother’s sudden death in 2000, Mark relocated to Maine where he completed high school and studied computer science, achieving the highest technician A+ rating, as well as several awards. Mark embarked on a long and successful career in computer technology, most recently at Apple. He was based in Raleigh, NC where he worked as a Lead Manager. Mark was very much liked by his colleagues and was highly respected for his leadership, sense of humor, competency, and kind nature. An outdoorsman, Mark loved to hike, kayak, off road bike and enjoyed being in nature with his friends and loved ones. Mark was a knowledgeable Hip Hop music fan, frequently attending concerts of his favorite artists. He amassed a sizeable CD collection containing many rare editions. Most of all, Mark loved spending time with his close friends and family. Mark was the grandson of pappou William Calivas and yiayia Lulu Calivas, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his loving uncle, Christos Calivas (Kim Bernard) of Rockland, Maine; his first cousins, Jon Calivas of Maine and Jennifer Calivas of Brooklyn, NY; his family of the heart, yiayia Venus Pastis of Setauket, NY, Theodora Nacinovich of Daphne, Alabama, and Jacqueline Pastis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his close friends, Whitney Serell, Jacob Scott and James Bailey, all of Raleigh, North Carolina; and many other friends and family. Internment will take place at Memorial Gardens of Fairhope, Alabama on May 20, 2022, where Mark will be laid to rest next to his mother. May his memory be eternal.
