Maria Diva “Divita” Murillo, born May 10th, 1919. Died February 7th, 2019. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe Bayview Funeral Home, 19698 Greeno Rd. (U.S. Hwy. 98), Fairhope, AL 36532. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Ms. Murillo was born in Colombia where she worked as a teacher and school administrator for many years. She immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen in the 1990s. She joined her daughter in Birmingham after her daughter’s marriage to the late Dr. Raymond Lindsay, a researcher at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and professor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She and her daughter later moved to Fairhope to be with family. She is survived by her daughter, Melba Lucia Garcia Lindsay, Fairhope; five (step) grandchildren, Debbie Stewart and spouse Larry, Anniston, Al; Gary Lindsay and spouse Sheryl, Fairhope; Scott Lindsay and spouse Lisa, Tallahassee, Fl; Philip Lindsay and spouse Debbie, Palmetto, Fl; Trish Tatum and partner Bruce Von Hagel, Hoover, Al.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Divita was always full of energy, generosity and love to all of her family. Her great-great grandchildren were especially devoted to her. She loved music, the outdoors and Spanish soap operas. She was of the Catholic faith and served the Lord as a devout parishioner at the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham and earlier at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Navarre, Fl. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alabama chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or the Grace Hospice Foundation.
