“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Another saint was added to the heavenly role on November 29, 2017 with the death of Margaret Moore Colville. Born during hard times prior to the Great Depression and the beginning of the Dust Bowl, Margaret enjoyed a wonderful and loving childhood with her brothers, John Brantley Moore, Jr., Robert Louis Moore, and parents, John Brantley Moore and Edith Pearl Steadham Moore in the small country community of Conley outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Patriotic to her core, Margaret left high school during her senior year to support our country’s efforts during World War II. She worked as a professional secretary with top secret clearance for the United States Government in the Department of Defense and Department of Transportation in Washington, DC. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After the war, she completed her GED and her major in business courses served her well as she continued working for the government in Los Angeles, California and later for Fortune 500 companies. After her marriage to her high school sweetheart ended in 1954, she and her young son, Randy moved to McIntosh, Alabama near her beloved aunt, Laura Steadham Boykin. During her time at Aunt Laura’s farm, she met her soulmate and future husband, William Colville, Jr. a decorated World War II veteran and forester. During their 38 year marriage, they moved to Atmore where their youngest son, Rob was born and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida due to Bill’s forestry position with St. Regis Paper Company. Upon retirement in 1982, they ultimately settled in Daphne, Alabama where Margaret was a passionate bridge player and loved to play golf on the Lake Forest links. A devout Christian, she was an active member of the McIntosh United Methodist Church, as well as the United Methodist Women. Margaret also enjoyed her association with the Daughters of the Confederacy. After Bill’s death in 1996, she split her time living between her farm in McIntosh and her home in Daphne. Survivors include her sons, Glen Randall Colville, McIntosh; William Robert Colville (Cindy), Spanish Fort; beloved grandsons, William Robert Colville, Jr. (Catherine), Hoover; Samuel Clay Colville, Auburn; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Colville; brother, John Brantley Moore, Jr., Concord, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.
