Malik William Nicely was born on July 28, 1995, to Mai-Lek Nicely-Mathis and John Sledge Jr. Malik was a resident of Lillian, Alabama and attended Foley High School where he was an avid member of Junior ROTC. His dream was to serve in the military, but his health condition prevented him from pursuing that dream. Living as a Type 1 diabetic since he was just five-years-old, he continued to live his life to the fullest. Malik's sweet soul departed this world on April 26, 2020. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a beautiful baby boy; Elijah William James Nicely, devoted brother; Kai Alexander, half-siblings; Reggie Parker of Arkansas, Dontavion M. Sledge of Foley, Shalissa N. Davis of Georgia, and Ja'Liyah Sledge of Florida, step-sister; Seleste McCants, step-brother Jaxson Mathis, and loving step-father; Jeremy Mathis. A Celebration of Life will be held for Malik Nicely on 11:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Faith Tabernacle Church located at 18109 U.S.98 in Foley, Alabama 36535.
