Lois J. Russell, age 84 of Lillian, Alabama, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, went to live with the Lord on September 7, 2024. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.

Lois developed the love of travel with her family by vacationing in all 50 states. With her husband, Michael they continued to explore 112 countries after they retired from Valley Electric (VEC) which they founded in 1974.

Lois loved living abroad for 2 years when the military stationed her husband in Etain, France. There Lois shipped her sewing machine where she started her business of sewing uniforms and patches for other service men.

Lois was a committed Christian and a member of the Lillian Methodist Church. She also served as a Stephens Minister at the First Presbyterian Church in Foley. Lois loved serving her community by being a member of the Optimist Club of Lillian, order of Eastern Star, Stone City Chapter #325, the women’s auxiliary Electrical Craft #55 and the Perdido Bay Power Squadron, where she served as assistant Treasurer for 5 years. Lois also enjoyed painting, reading, and gardening in her free time. She also was a published author, she wrote poetry and several poems are printed, in the National Library of Poetry Books. However, she mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Michael Russell, her parents, Charles and Vergie Nunn, her best friend and sister Betty Burgdorf and her brother, Charles Ray Nunn. 

Lois’s legacy lives on through her survivors, her children Ty (Maureen) Russell of Elberta, AL, Kathy (Curt) Bodamer of Boardman, OH, Keith Russell of Vietnam, Diane McDonald of Panama City, FL; brother, Phillip (Barbara) Nunn;  grandchildren, Amber, Cori, Jessica, Abby, Emily, Polina, Alex, Kate; and many nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at The Lillian Methodist Church, Lillian, Alabama, Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2:00pm.
