Unfortunately for us – passing at the age of 70 – Lila Colyer Gillham didn't live the average lifespan. But fortunately for us, she didn't live the average life either. In December 2014, she moved from Little Rock, Arkansas to Fairhope, Alabama; the prettiest place she could find on a map. On August 30, 2021, she upgraded again to an even prettier place in Heaven alongside her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And despite (temporarily) leaving behind four daughters – Kelly Morris Daniel, Heather Gillham, Mary Beth Gillham and Lindsey Gillham Thompson; one son-in-law, Josh Thompson; four grandchildren, Austin Daniel, Leo Aragon, Lila Thompson and Collier Thompson; a loyal dog, Belle and an adoring boyfriend, Jere Trigg – we couldn't be happier about her new home. Lila was born to Celia and Eugene Colyer on May 22, 1951 in Savannah, Georgia. Her parents doted on her and she loved on them, sentiments later lavished on a family of her own. Like many parents, she built her life around being loving, loyal, hard-working and generous. But what set her apart was how much fun she had doing it. From her kids to her grandkids, to friends and acquaintances, she enjoyed life. Early on, she worked at our elementary school, Holy Souls, diving head-first into the "soccer mom" life: hosting sleepovers and birthday parties, leading our Girl Scout troops, making Halloween costumes and driving us from here to there for every sport or hobby we participated in. She did it all! Later in life, she finally go to enjoy some hobbies of her own: adopting Jere's love of African Violets, frequenting the Mobile Bay and Gulf Coast, joining Bunco and Canasta groups and plugging into her beloved 3 Circle Church. Despite facing many challenges in life, including losing her parents at an early age, battling Multiple Sclerosis, and falling ill with COVID-19, nothing could hide her grit or will to fight in the face of adversity, right up to her very last breath. She was loved and loving, and she will be missed by many. We love you, mom. Thank you for everything. We can't wait to see you again. The funeral arrangements are set for Saturday, September 18 at 11 a.m. at 3 Circle Church on 10274 AL-104 in Fairhope, Alabama.
