Leo Jacob, age 84, a resident of Daphne, went to heaven on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on June 10, 1933. He moved to Mobile with his parents Lillie Mae and John F. Miller where he attended Little Flower. Leo graduated from McGill Institute in 1951. He is a member of the McGill-Toolen Athletic Hall of Fame where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He attended Springhill College and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Leo retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and enjoyed retirement on Mobile Bay. He continued to work part-time after retirement at the Quail Creek Golf Course where he was a Charter Member. Leo was also a self-taught banjo and yukele musician. He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick B. Miller. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret M. Jacob of Daphne; daughter Leigh J. Parks (Keith) of Spanish Fort; granddaughter Chandler E. Mikkelson (Adam) of Orlando, FL; three great- grandchildren: Addison W. Mikkelson, Reid C. Mikkelson, and Ellie Bea Mikkelson also of Orlando and many other loving relatives and friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated from Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to USA Mitchell Cancer Institute, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Alabama or Christ the King Catholic Church.
