Larry Claude Tomlinson, Jr.- a native of Mobile, AL and a longtime resident of Fairhope, AL died in his home on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Larry was born on March 11, 1935 to Sarah Clark and Larry Claude Tomlinson, Sr. He attended Barton Academy in Mobile, AL and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a strong man and an entrepreneur who believed in hard work and more importantly believed in himself. He loved to make things work, from a broken tractor to a failing business he was excited to have the opportunity and challenge. He learned how to do almost anything because he tried almost anything. He played baseball for the Cleveland Indians, drove an 18-wheeler, grew trucking companies, started a warehousing business, built warehouses, drove tractors, helped start a building materials company, helped start a construction company, played golf, ran a golf course, and at 86 years he was enthusiastically working on a new project. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Tomlinson and sister, Marie Crosby. He is survived by his wife Patsy Schell Tomlinson; sons Mike Tomlinson (Abbie) and Terry Tomlinson; daughters, Ginny McCrory (Bart) and Lorie Gaillard (Peter); grandchildren, Jered Tomlinson, Kayla Matthews, Tim Tomlinson, Virginia McCrory, Ward McCrory, Mac Gaillard, Les Gaillard, and Anne Patton Gaillard; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerry Tomlinson; sisters, Margie Bunch, Teresa Breedlove, Ann Emerson, and Maxine Gove; many other loving relatives and friends. A visitation will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Trinity Presbyterian in Fairhope with a service beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
