Larry Lee Sandstrom of Fairhope, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2021 at the age of 81. He was born on August 15, 1939 in Bakersfield, California. Larry is preceded in death by his father, John B. and his mother, Helen Thomas Sandstrom, as well as his brother, William H. Sandstrom. Larry is survived by Peaches (his cat) and numerous friends who had become his family, especially Darren, Emily, James and Sarah Sixkiller, along with his Stone Interiors family and his St. Lawrence Catholic Church community. Larry was a religious brother in the Congregation of Holy Cross from 1959-1994. During the early years of his brotherhood, he worked at Assumption Cemetery (TX), Rancho San Antonio (CA), Maison Marie Group Home for Girls (LA), Boys’ Town Nebraska (NE), Hope Haven Madonna Manor Boys’ Home (LA), Moreau High School (CA), Diocese of San Jose (CA), Maryville Girls Home (CA), Master Dolorosa Retreat Center (CA), and LaSalle High School (CA). He was Vice Principal, Director of Guidance, and Dean of Students during his time at Holy Cross High School in San Antonio, TX from 1987-1991. Larry was headmaster of Holy Cross High School in New Orleans from 1991-1993. He also worked as an instructor at the Orleans Parish Prison. Larry worked as a salesman for Intrepid Stone, a granite company in Harvey, LA from 1998 to 1999. Larry worked as a marketing ambassador and mentor for Stone Interiors in Loxley, Alabama from 1999 until 2008 and Stone Interiors New Orleans from 2008 until his retirement in 2017. There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 370 South Section St. in Fairhope, AL 36532. Visitation will be from 1-2pm in the St. Lawrence Room and a funeral mass will follow in the church at 2pm. Larry Lee Sandstrom will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, TX.
