Larry Gaylord Kerr May 13, 1942 - April 13, 2018 Native of Ferndale, Michigan and longtime resident of Fairhope, Alabama. "The Iron Horse Legend" rode off on the "Highway To Heaven"at 75 years of age. Survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Sue Carpenter and her 2 sons, Haden (Lana) Giddings and Chad (Natalie) Giddings and her 5 grandchildren, Caroline, Ellie, Catherine, Callie and Caden. Judy F. Nelson, Mother of his 3 sons, Robert Kerr, Michael (Ali) Kerr, Douglas (Brie) Kerr. His 8 grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob, Faith, Anna, Dotti (Ben), Cullen, Jon-Grayson, Cirra and his 5 great-grandchildren, Natalia, Bella, Lilly, Clark, Ellie. He was "Grandoggies" to their combined loving families of 5 sons, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. "Honorary Sons", Mitch Garrett, Curtis Jackson. Caro B. Wilson, sister of Foley, Alabama and his rescued lab "TOBY". Long time buddies,Butch Thompson, Bob Bendik, Sid Chupek, Joel Erlandson, Phil Dyson, Cliff Welk, Jerry Olsen and never to be forgotten, Joe McGill and Raymond Wolchina. Numerous other family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Gaylord and Iva Kerr, past owners back in the day of East Shore Bakery in Fairhope. Larry was an avid collector of antiques and tinkerer of all things throughout his life. Eagle Scout in 1957, 1960 graduate Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education Graduated from State Vocational Technical School 1962 and served 6 years with the Alabama National Guard and 25 years licensed home builder. Represented the State of Alabama, 1st place International Carpenters Apprentice Contest 1972 Member since 1973 of the National Street Rod Association and Cushman Motor Scooter Club Of America and dedicated to the restoration and preservation. Celebration of Life services will be held at Beckwith Lodge on Saturday, May 26th, 3:00 pm.
