Kirk Allan Boothe, age 61, a native of Schenectady, New York and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 24th, 2018. Kirk was born on May 31st, 1956 to Donald and Joan Foley Boothe in Painesville, Ohio. He attended Niskayuna High School from 1970-1974, where he excelled in athletics, participating in wrestling (sectional champion 1974), track and football (under famed coach and father Don Boothe). He graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1978 and continued his education at Georgia Tech to obtain a Master’s Degree in Operations Research in 1990. Following his commissioning as an officer in 1978, he honorably served in the United States Army until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997. His service included Rifle Platoon Leader in the 7th Infantry Division at Fort Ord CA, Platoon Leader in the 6th CBAC in Fort Hood TX, Operations Officer in the 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell KY, Executive Officer of 2/2nd Assault Aviation Regiment in Camp Stanley in the Republic of Korea, Threat Analysis Branch Chief of J5 USSTRATCOM at Offutt Air Force Base, and was the Program Manager of the Technology Management Office at the Pentagon. A true American Patriot, he said of his career: “a meaningful life is one of service, and it was a privilege to serve my country.” Following his career in the Army, he worked for IBM as a software sales executive from 1997 until his passing. As senior project manager, he traveled to multiple locations across the globe with his sales team implementing Big Data Enablement for IBM. His team and work affiliates described him as extremely conscientious, respectful, and knowledgeable, a true gentleman, and a true leader. Kirk is survived by his wife of 35 years: Julie Fogarty Boothe of Selma, Alabama; one son: Paul Donald Boothe; two daughters: Kendra Ann Byrne, Krislynn Tracy Boothe; two sisters: Ann Hoffman, Lynn Horn; two grandchildren: Joel Michael Tompkins, Madison Leigh Byrne; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. His love for the Lord was evident through the way he lived his life. He loved his wife, his family, and friends. He will be remembered for his leadership, kindness, humility and sense of humor. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 PM. Graveside will be held at 1:30 PM at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. Military Honors will be provided by the US Army and South West Alabama Patriot Riders.
