Born on August 12, 1944, in Hattiesburg, MS, passed in peace at the age of 76 on August 8, 2021, in Fairhope, AL. Allen was born and raised in Hattiesburg MS and graduated from Hattiesburg High School. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after enjoying a 39-year career with them and spent the last 27 years of his life living in Spanish Fort, AL. He is preceded in death by his mother Martha Steelman and father John Clyde Nelson Sr.. He was a devoted and affectionate husband to his wife Katherine Jane Nelson of Spanish Fort, AL for 26 amazing years. He was the loving father of Kenneth Allen Nelson, Jr. of Petal, MS (wife, Margaret) and Regina Nelson Stork of Petal, MS (husband, Jerry Lee Stork, Jr.). A remarkable stepfather of Celese Bankston of Daphne, AL (husband, Alton Bankston) and Todd Davidson of Summerdale, AL (wife, Donna). Proud grandfather of Taylor Stork, Jon-Michael Stork, Drew Stork, Jonathan Nelson, Juliann Nelson, Justin Bankston, Matthew Bankston, Thomas Bankston, Mackenzie Kelly, Jacob Davidson, and Jared Davidson. A wonderful Great Grandfather of Kyle and Alexandra Bankston. A loving brother to his late sister Mary Nelson Ross, and three brothers John Nelson Jr., Franklin (Duane) Nelson, and Paul Nelson. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Allen will forever be remembered by family and friends as a loving and caring husband and father, an encourager, humorist, talented craftsman, and train enthusiast. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten and we look forward to the time we will once again be able to spend time with him in the presence of our Lord. Private family services will be held at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
