Kaye Sedgley Lee, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2019 at 4:50 AM, bringing an end to her struggle with ALS. She was born May 8th, 1940 in Hull, England to Joe and Pauline Sedgley. Kaye came to the United States with her husband John in 1965, becoming citizens in 1977. With two active sons, Kaye stayed very busy during their childhood. One example was sewing the neckerchiefs for Boy Scout Troop 478 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kaye loved art, especially painting, but initially put this passion on hold to raise a family. When her sons went to university, she returned to painting regularly and made many friends in the art communities of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Tyler, Texas. Kaye is survived by her husband John; her son David Lee and his wife Anne LeBlanc of Texas; her son Peter Lee and his wife Brandi of Alabama; three granddaughters, Caitlin and Erin of Texas and Mattie of Alabama; great grandson Brooks, child of Erin and Max of Texas; and extensive family in the UK. Kaye chose to gift her body to the University of South Alabama through the anatomical gifts program for further research and the training of future physicians. A family memorial service will be arranged when the remains have been cremated and returned in the coming years. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to continue the fight against ALS in Kaye’s name. To complete this, go to: alsalabama.org on the screen there is a large red “Donate” button which will take you to the donation page. Please list that the donation is in memory of Kaye Lee.
