Katy Lou Croft Likos, age 91, a resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. After graduating from Gadsden High School in 1948, she served as a secretary and later a reporter for The Gadsden Times. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University, she began a second career as a teacher at Gadsden’s Disque Junior High School, where she served as sponsor for the Science Club. Katy was the first person in her immediate family to receive a college degree. Later, she completed her Master’s Degree at the University of Alabama. While living in Gadsden, she was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. After retiring to Baldwin County in 1992, she joined St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband Gus Likos, whom she married in 1953. She is survived by her daughters, Tina (John) Wilson of Orange Beach, Karen Thomason of Daphne; son, Marty (Rhonda) Likos of Guntersville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-laws; 1 brother-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Visitation with family will begin one hour prior to the service.
