Kathryn Anderson Reed

Kathryn Anderson Reed, age 99, resident of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017. Mrs. Reed was very active in the family grocery business until her retirement at age 46, at which time she and her husband developed numerous tracts of land and enjoyed their home on Bay Minette Creek. After her retirement she and her husband traveled the world extensively and took every opportunity to enjoy their square dancing endeavors from China to Hawaii and many other countries throughout the world. A devoted member of the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, she participated in church circle and Bible study groups with her dear church friends.    Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Barbara Anderson; husband, Fred B. Reed; son, Timothy P. Reed; sister, Gertrude Holmes Penton; and nephews, Oliver W. George and Edward E. Holmes II. She is survived by her son, Mark B. (Janice) Reed of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Damon Benjamin (Amy) Reed of Hoover, AL, Byron Anderson (Ashley) Reed of LaGrange, GA, Jillian Reed (Jake) Wallace of Westfield, NJ, Kersten Reed (Ryan) Bowman of Niceville, FL, Anderson Lee Reed of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; great grandchildren, Abby, Ella, and Hudson Reed, Charlsie Reed, Linley Bowman; niece and nephew, Edward “Beau” (Anne) Holmes of Montgomery, AL, Aimee Holmes (Rob) Stone of Vestavia Hill, AL; great nieces and nephews, Will and Virginia Anne Holmes and Robert and Olivia Stone; and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
