Mrs. Kathryn Knight Oliver, a native of Leroy, Alabama and a resident of Fairhope, passed away at home on March 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer H. Oliver and her sisters, Miriam Savadra and Dorothea Anderson. She is survived by her son, Donald Finklea (Diane); grandson, James Finklea (Kim); grandson, Michael Finklea (Melissa); great granddaughter, McKenzie Finklea, and a special step granddaughter, Christy Shultz (Ed). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. During World War II, Kathryn was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Brookley Field. She retired as an account clerk from the GM & O Railroad after 35 years. Kathryn spent much of her life in Satsuma, Alabama where she was a dedicated community volunteer. She was named Citizen of the Year by the Satsuma Community Development Organization in 2018. She also worked tirelessly as a member of the Women's Club of Satsuma. She was truly a member of "the greatest generation". Katheryn was very loved by her family and friends. She will be missed by all. A memorial, graveside service will be held on March 20, 2021 at 10:00am at the Satsuma Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Satsuma Women's Club Chapel Fund, 150 Bayou Avenue, Satsuma, AL, 36572.
