Katherine Ann Miller, known to her family and loved ones as Kathy, passed away on April 16, 2024, at 12:41 pm. Her death was due to what was thought to be a viral respiratory illness leading to ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), ultimately resulting in respiratory failure. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank Joseph Cerniglia and Angeline Marie Cerniglia, paternal grandparents Leonard Joseph Vetrano and Katherine Cecilia Vetrano, and her parents, Milton Leon Vetrano and Vinzene Vetrano. She never fully got over the death of her furbaby Coco and is now reunited with her as well as the fur children that passed before her and her grand-dog Bella. She is survived by her husband, Michael (Lamar) Miller; her two daughters Angeline Marie Hyde and Mary Elizabeth Miller, son-in-law Stephen James Hyde, grandson Stephen James Hyde II (Jamie); her furbabies Buck and Mac, and her grand-dogs Bennis and Sofia.
Kathy was born on September 27, 1965, in Birmingham, Al. She grew up in Ensley, AL, until about nine years of age and then moved to Adamsville, AL. She graduated from Minor High School in 1983 and attended some college English courses at Jefferson State University. She worked as a teller and was promoted to head teller of Central Bank (which eventually became Compass Bank). She then was the branch manager of America’s First Federal Credit Union. She married the love of her life, Michael Lamar Miller, in 1985 and moved to Spanish Fort, AL, in 1992. Shortly thereafter, she welcomed her firstborn daughter, Angeline Marie Miller, on July 7, 1992. She then began her 20+ year career as a preschool teacher at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Four and a half years later, she had her second-born daughter, Mary Miller, on December 5, 1996. She adored raising her children, fishing, and doing anything outdoors. She gave every day of her life to making sure her children knew they were cherished and loved.
Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:00 am at Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic church. Immediately following the service from 11:00 am-12:00 pm, a reception for fellowship will be held at the church, and a meal will be provided. She wished to be cremated, and as such, the Catholic faith believes that a final resting place is necessary to preserve the sanctity of the body. Donations to the family will be accepted to procure her final resting place as well as cover her medical expenses. Please consider potted plants in lieu of flowers until her final resting place has been secured. Potted plants, gifts, and donations can be sent to Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Catholic church 31122 US-31, Spanish Fort, AL 36527. Checks can be made out to Michael Lamar Miller or Angeline Hyde. Venmo is also accepted at @Angel_ine7.
