June Estelle McArthur Enfinger, age 92, passed to eternal life October 11, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Rev. Floyd C. Enfinger, Sr. She is survived by 3 children, Floyd Enfinger, Jr. (Linda), Lee Cleveland and Robin King (Ralph), as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. June was born in Slocomb, Alabama, the daughter of a farmer and a school teacher. She attended Chipola Junior College and enjoyed a brief tenure as an elementary school teacher. After marriage, she devoted her life to supporting her husband’s ministry. This included moving often, establishing new residences for their growing family, and being active in church activities. As the only surviving child, June was also caretaker of her parents, James and Mayme McArthur. While Floyd was in charge of the churches he served, June was CEO at home. She was a tireless homemaker, mother, wife, and daughter. June always made sure there was a place at the table for anyone who stopped by for a visit or for anyone Floyd invited home from a church meeting. Food was good and plentiful in June’s kitchen. June kept everyone and everything on schedule. She was a diligent planner, ran the family budget, and kept the home fires burning. Due to her frugality, Floyd and June provided college educations for all of their children. As a former teacher and the daughter of a teacher, this was especially important to June. After Floyd’s retirement, he and June built their dream home in Fairhope, Alabama. June spent countless hours planting and tending flowers, enjoying visits from friends and neighbors, and spending lots of time with grandchildren, and eventually, great grandchildren. These were the joys of her life. She was a great partner for her husband. She was an example of compassion, hard work, practicality, and generosity for her children. She possessed a strength of character that was apparent to anyone who knew her. She did not seek attention or praise but she deserved all that came her way. Her presence was always felt and needed at family gatherings. She was the beginning of the day with coffee and biscuits. She was the ending of the day with a meal plan and schedule for the next day —either in her hand or in her mind —before she could sleep. She simply got things done. She was the kind of woman who when her feet hit the floor in the morning, the devil would say, “Oh, no! She’s up!” If June said she would do something, she did it. And if June told you to do something, well, it would be best for all concerned to get it done. A graveside service will be held October 20, 2020 at 1 p.m. CDT, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Slocomb, Alabama. The family requests no flowers and that any remembrance be by way of donation to the Slocomb United Methodist Church, P O Box 304, Slocomb AL 36375, the site of her wedding in 1947. The family expresses appreciation to all of June’s care givers, including Dr. Frank Wang, Kim Nolte, Angela Bracy, Ameesha Bush-Taylor, Donna Green Urrutia, Darlene Bell, Ruthie Bush, Tiffany Harrison and Mykeida Perry.
