Julius Glenn Singleton, age 85, a resident of Fairhope, AL., passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. Major Singleton proudly served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years. His specialties included piloting fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. He commanded the 357th Airborne Unit before his retirement in 1973. After he became disabled in 2008, his time was devoted to writing a book about his life. His book “A DREAM TAKES FLIGHT” was published in 2017 and has received rave reviews. He is preceded in death by a son, Gregory Allen Singleton and a brother, George Samuel Singleton. He is survived by his wife Judy Singleton of Fairhope; sons, Phillip W. Singleton (Sherry) and Garry A. Singleton (Bonnie) all of Wetumpka, AL; several grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Wheeler of Fairhope and Martha Strength of Prattville; brother, David Singleton (Cindy) of Wetumpka; many other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 12:30 pm. Attendees are required to arrive at least one hour early to check in at the front office. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 2:30 pm at Eastern Shore Church of Christ. A meal will be provided in the Fellowship room.
