Joseph Frank Gravlee, Jr. MD

Joseph Frank Gravlee, Jr. MD, age 64, a resident of Fairhope, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. Joe was born in Opelika, Alabama on February 14, 1954. He was a graduate of The University of Alabama and Tufts Medical School, in Boston, MA. He received his ophthalmology training at The Eye Foundation in Birmingham, AL, and practiced ophthalmology in Fairhope and Baldwin County for 25 years. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Rotary Club, Red Elephant Club and various other civic and professional organizations. He is survived by his loving wife Glenda for 41 years; sons, Joseph Frank Gravlee, III, Benjamin Glenn Gravlee (Jill), and daughter, Elizabeth Gravlee Ladd (John); father, Joseph Frank Gravlee, Sr. DVM (Linda); brothers, Hubert Scott Gravlee, DVM (Amy), and Van Clark Gravlee (Mary), and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carol Eleanor Scott Gravlee. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope, AL, with a reception to follow at the Church. The family would like to thank all of our friends, family, church family, patients, medical community and Community Hospice for the love and care and embracement they have showered on us during the years in Fairhope. A private interment will be held at a later date.
