John P. Williams, formerly of Toledo, OH passed away on February 6, 2023 at his home in Lillian, AL where he has lived these past 30+ years. His loving family was with him at his passing. He was 91 years young. John was a graduate of the old Macomber Vocational High School and a veteran of Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954 rising in rank to sergeant before being discharged. He hired in at the General Mills, Inc. Toledo plant in January, 1955 and stayed for 35 years, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in Feb, 1990. An avid boater and fisherman, he was a member of the Cooley Canal Yacht Club before moving to Lillian, Alabama, where he enjoyed fishing in Perdido Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. John and his wife Catherine, who preceded him in death, were active members of their HOA and their church, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lillian until his COPD restricted his activities. Besides Catherine (Garney), his beloved wife of 65 years, he was preceded in death by his son, Guy Randall; parents, Frank and Irene (Gerard) Williams; brothers Francis and Gerard (Florence) and sisters, Margaret (Richard) Baldwin and Patricia (Earl) DeSelms. He is survived by daughters Diana (Robert) Kitchell, Katherine (Michael) Shaffer and Regina (George) Johnson, five grandchildren (Melanie, Danielle, Pete, Alysia, and Zackary) as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He loved his children dearly and was loved dearly in return. Donations may be given to a charity of your choice. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lillian, AL on March 6, 2023 at 10:00 am with a gathering following the service in their fellowship hall.
