John Franklin Lazzari, Sr., age 81, a lifelong resident of Belforest, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the home he built with love with his wife Ruth of 58 years. John farmed and raised cattle, and it continued to be his passion until the end. He was a US Army National Guard Veteran and a lifelong member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Cattleman’s Association. He preceded in death by his grandson, Emery Floyd Childress, III. John is survived by his wife, Ruth Lazzari of Daphne; children: Vanessa Lazzari Papenburg of Decatur, AL, Lori Lazzari Goldweber (Adam) of Birmingham, Patricia Lazzari Ashcraft (Art) of Cumming, GA., John F. Lazzari, Jr. (Donna) of Daphne; grandchildren: Tres Wiley, Colin Papenburg, Charlie Papenburg, Anna Grace Papenburg, Taylor Ashcraft, Hayleigh Lazzari, Carley Lazzari Luna (Anthony) ; sister: Frances Nelson of Daphne, AL;and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of the service. Interment will follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Belforest Volunteer Fire Department or your favorite charity.
