It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother, John W. Ivey, Jr. God called him home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. He was 71 years old. John was a really good person who’s life was taken too soon. He never got to live out his golden years the way he had hoped. He suffered greatly after his stroke a couple of years ago and was working hard to get back on his feet. He had a deep love of music and played the guitar. In his younger days he was in many bands and played local venues in NC. His guitar collection was extensive and his pride and joy. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later worked at Carolina Can in Arden, NC for many years. He moved to AL to be closer to family about 15 years ago. He worked for IMIA in Spanish Fort, AL until his health began to fail. He was single and had no children but loved his cat, Lily. John will be greatly missed and we hope he knew what we all felt “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.” He is preceded in death by his parents, John W. Ivey and Pearl A. Ivey, his brothers Robbie Ivey and Michael Ivey all formerly of Arden, NC. He is survived by his two sisters, Rhonda (Mike) Keenan of Spanish Fort, AL and Belinda (Larry) Baker of Daphne, AL and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. The family will have a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to The Vietnam Veterans of America. https://vva.org/donate/ ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 27409 U. S.
