John Devon McCarter, age 62, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Sunday, January 2nd, 2022. Devon was a United States Army veteran. He was immensely proud of his military service. Devon was also a dedicated employee of Saia Motor Freight company. He worked as a truck driver for twenty-eight years. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and loving father. In his free time, Devon loved spending time with his family and watching football. He was an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Everyone who knew Devon was touched by his kindness, humor, and wit. He loved deeply, and we take comfort knowing that Devon is now at peace. Devon is survived by his wife, Dawn McCarter of Fairhope; sons, Kyle (Fairen) McCarter of Point Clear, Chase (Emily) McCarter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Larry McCarter of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Gary (Janet) McCarter of Rosman, North Carolina; sister, Cindy (John) Raines of Rosman, North Carolina; aunt, Imajean Galloway of Rosman, North Carolina; father-in-law, William E. Hudson of Fairhope; along with other relatives and an abundance of friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry McCarter, and mother, Thelma McCarter. We will miss him more than words can say and will always remember the ways in which he touched our lives. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 10th, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
