Joanne Marie Widman

Joanne Widman, 80, a resident of Elberta, Alabama, formerly of Old Forge NY passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Joanne was born in Sylvan Beach, NY daughter of William and Lois (Graham) Freiberger. She grew up and graduated from New Hartford Schools in 1961 and continued her education at Utica School of Commerce. Joanne married the love of her life in 1964. She worked at Utica Boilers for many years. After relocating to Old Forge NY she worked and retired from Community Bank. Joanne was a long time member of the OFFD Ladies Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death is her son, David Edward III

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Edward “Ed” Widman of Elberta, AL; daughter, Debbie (Douglas) Campbell of Elberta, AL; sisters, Nancy Lake of Palm Springs, CA and Lois Phelps of New Hartford, NY; brother William Freiberger (Judy) of New Hartford, NY; grandson, Matthew Widman and great-grandson Jaxson Widman both of NY along with many nieces and nephews. 

To honor Joanne’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite you to celebrate her memory in your own ways. I know that she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for understanding.
