Joan LaPiana Lavelle, 80, of Fairhope, went home to her heavenly Father March 31, 2018. She lived a life of service to her children’s activities, to many civic organizations and as President and a Board Member of The American Lupus Society. She was very active in her Catholic churches, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a faithful friend. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, and her twin brother, John C. La Piana. She is survived by her sister, Carol LaPiana Roy of Rochester, NY; her children, Linda Lavelle (Edward Schnell) of Fairhope, AL, Joseph (Kate) Lavelle of Fairhope, AL, and Jackie (Dana) Perrin of Walworth, New York; sisters-in-law, Anne Sheridan of Camillus, New York and Eileen Lavelle of Liverpool, New York; five grandchildren, Grant Schnell, Audrey Schnell, Molly Perrin, Max Perrin and Finlay Lavelle; and several special nieces and nephews, Thomas (Sara) Lavelle of Scottsdale, Arizona, Robert (Cindy) Lavelle, and William Lavelle, both of Liverpool, New York, Jimmy (Debbie) Lavelle, and Michael Lavelle of Syracuse, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037-1830. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday April 4 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope.
