Joan Faye Kempel

Joan Gates Kempel, age 75, resident of Lillian passed away Friday, July 13, 2018. She was a member of Bayside Baptist Church, Lillian, AL.  Joan was a former manager of Lillie Ruben, Birmingham, AL, Henig Furs, Mobile, AL, and a dept. manager of McRae’s, Mobile, AL. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett Gates, Wanda Powell and a brother, Larry Powell. She is survived by her husband, Gerald H. Kempel of Lillian;  two daughters, Dr. Sherry A. (Ali) White of Pensacola,  Shlynn (Bob) Curry of Hazel Green, AL;  three step-daughters, Angie (Al) Moltsau  of Leesville, LA,  Victoria Amacher of Huntsville, AL,  Heather (Josh) Hemming of Poway, CA;  two brothers, Jerry Rayford Gates of Jackson, AL,  Bob Powell of Grove Hill, AL;  one sister, Laura Few of Saraland;  five grandchildren, Libby, Mackenzie, Phillip, Ryan, Jeremy;  eight great grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11:00am at Bayside Baptist Church, Lillian, AL The family will receive friends two hours before service time. Interment will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 1:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bayside Baptist Church, P.O.
