Joan Keenan

Joan Heffernan Keenan, age 85, a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Joan started her married life as a Navy wife on New Year’s Eve 1953. She was a devoted spouse and mother of four with deep Irish roots. She loved the ocean and the many treasures that she found on the beach. As an avid sailor, she enjoyed the yacht club life. Her passions included her pets, collecting antiques, sea glass and volunteering at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church gift shop. She was a tireless champion for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Joseph Keenan; two sisters, and a brother. Her survivors include her daughters, Patricia Keenan of Fairhope and Kathleen (John) Klein of Camas, WA; sons, Gordon A. (Ruth) Keenan of Houston, TX and Daniel J. (Maria) Keenan of Oakland, CA; grandchildren: Rebecca (Jeff), Jenn (Dan), Thomas (Jessica), Elizabeth (Kyle), Danielle, Briana, Nicola, Jack (Annelise), Jason, Greg, Ellie, and Colin; five great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope from 6:00-7:00 pm.
