Joan Tallis Hoffacker

Joan Tallis Hoffacker, formerly of Fairhope, Alabama, died peacefully at her home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota on September 17, 2021, two weeks after celebrating her 92nd birthday. "Jo" as many called her, was born in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Janet Tallis, a few weeks before the 1929 stock market crash. She was the middle child in a loving family, with big sister Louise and younger brother Jack. Jo loved her Lord, her family and loved life. She loved to sing, play cards, laugh, travel, teach Sunday school, go to the pool, the theater, the mountains, and the beach. She loved flowers and songbirds and loved to dress up, wear her high heels, throw parties, go to dances, and bake for her family, especially chocolate chip cookies with her grandkids. She adored her husband of 57 years, Burnell Hoffacker, who preceded her in death in 2012, and her three sons and their wives, John and Claudia, Doug and Nellie and Tom and Jennifer. Joan is survived by her sons and their families, including 7 grandchildren (Nellie Jo, Melanie, Laura, Mary Lou, Kate, Sam and Dennie) and 5 great grandchildren (Caleb, Eleanor, James Douglas, Nellie Marie and Joanna, born just a month before her death and named after her)! She's also survived by her brother Jack, his wife Margaret, sons John and Richard, his wife Marla, daughter Emily, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Fairhope United Methodist Church on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00am until the service time. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Memorial donations may be directed to Fairhope United Methodist Church, 155 S. Section St. Fairhope, AL 36532.
