Jeremy “Jay” Joseph Sharp, a paramedic and resident of Robertsdale, AL, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 9, 2022, at the age of 50.
Jeremy was born August 8, 1972, to Gary Sharp and Judy Wesley. He grew up mostly in Fairhope, AL, and was part of the Fairhope High School graduating class of 1990. Jeremy loved all animals, big and small. He worked with the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo off and on for around 14 years. Jeremy was notorious for bringing his work home with him… literally. It was nothing for his family to find a Caiman alligator in the bathroom, wolf pups in the living room, a lemur crawling on the couch, and even rare white tiger cubs that needed to be cared for overnight. Jeremy gave 110% to everything he did and made sure he was fully knowledgeable about all things. He loved learning, and he definitely loved sharing that knowledge, whether it be applicable to the situation or totally random. Around 2010 Jeremy transitioned to professionally caring for people. He graduated from Fortis College in 2014 and went to work as a Medical Assistant at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and Thomas Hospital while continuing his education at Coastal Alabama Community College. Jeremy graduated in November 2017 and joined Medstar Emergency Medical Services in 2018 as a Nationally Certified Paramedic. In addition, he also worked part-time for a bit with Coastal Alabama Community College as an adjunct proctor in the EMT/Paramedic Program. Jeremy loved his job on the ambulance and being able to serve his community. He had a tremendous sense of humor and could find laughter in every situation including cracking jokes about his sudden below knee amputation in November 2021. Jeremy didn’t allow this to stop him from helping others and thus moved to the Dispatch department of Medstar. Through Jeremy’s difficulties, Jesus was able to use Jeremy to help others and to draw him close to Himself. The family has the comfort of knowing that Jeremy is with Jesus for eternity.
Jeremy is survived by his devoted wife Krystal Howell Sharp; his three children Jacob, Maddock, and Cecelia; his mother Judy Wesley Sims; his two brothers Michael (Alison) Sharp and Chad Sharp; his extended family members; his first responder family; and the innumerable lives that remain because of his.
