Jeanette Avis Manci Torbert, of Daphne, Alabama, passed peacefully on February 11, 2023, at the age of 83. Jeanette was born on December 23, 1939, to Arthur and Avis Leo Manci in Mobile, Alabama. She grew up in Daphne, Alabama, with her four siblings, Dr. Elizabeth Ann Manci, Mary Sue Coppejans, Joseph Arthur Manci, and William Alexander Manci. Jeanette graduated from Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, Alabama, and studied Accounting at Barry College in Miami, Florida. Jeanette’s passing, however, is not her end, for she lives on in the lives of her children, Leon Moxsy Torbert III (Kim Torbert), Arthur Manci Torbert (Vicki Adams), and Jeanette Torbert (Brett Moyer), and her grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Fallon Manci Torbert, and Wells Brooks Torbert. They knew her simply as Nana, and she will be ever-present through them. Through Fallon is seen Jeanette’s beauty and sense of adventure, and through Ethan and Wells, is seen Jeanette’s unending kindness, compassion and generosity. While she would not outwardly let you know, her companion pup, Daisy, faithfully filled her days with unconditional love. Jeanette, a woman of many talents, was an accomplished heirloom sewer and gardener and loved to paint. She shared her love for great wine and food, which was as notable as a fine Bordeaux, with her three children. She enjoyed playing tennis at Mobile Country Club. Jeanette loved the eastern shore and talked fondly of time spent with family and a well-lived life, including awaiting the impressive phenomenon of Jubilees and enjoying carefree days at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear. She spoke often of her adventurous travels with her sisters, which undoubtably enabled her to quench her desire for unique jewelry pieces. Visitation with the family will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne, Alabama, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with the Rosary at 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Daphne, Alabama, on Friday at 11:00am. A private family graveside service will be held in Belforest Catholic Cemetery in Daphne, Alabama.
