Janet Walker Oates

Janet Bridget Walker Oates, age 73, a native of Mobile, AL and a resident of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020. Janet was a member of Durant Chapel Baptist Church. She graduated from Bishop Toolen in 1965, and then from the University of South Alabama, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Journalism. While at USA, she was the editor of the student news paper. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, William Oates;two children, Jayme Oates and Jason (Natalie) Oates;four grandchildren, Owen Wells, Joshua Oates, Savannah Oates, Olivia Oates; numerous other relative and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne Chapel, Friday, February 21, 2020, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service time. Graveside services and interment will be in the Alabama State Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, Friday, February 21, 2020, at 12:30 pm.
