James Wallace Sloan

James Wallace Sloan, a native of Wahalla, SC and a resident of Foley, AL passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the age of 86. After serving in the US Navy from 1956-1962 on the USS Randolph, James worked for Stevens Aviation for 31 years before his retirement. James was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sue Phillips Sloan. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Sloan (Danny) Nelson of Inman, SC; sons, Daniel Harrison (Stacy) Sloan of Fairhope AL, Ronald Aaron (Jody) Sloan of Manteo NC; sister, Barbara Georgina Derrick of Charleston SC; along with eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and other loving relatives and friends. He was known to many as Jim or Sam. You could always find him in his favorite chair watching and rewatching something sports related. He was a devoted fan of anything Clemson University, especially football, basketball, baseball and golf. A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at a later date.
