James Michael Reedy January 17, 1945 – April 17, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Mike Reedy, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama at the age of 79. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, he was truly a special man. Mike was born in Albany, Georgia and his family moved to Fairhope when he was an infant. He was a graduate of Fairhope High School, Class of 1963. He continued his education at The University of Southern Mississippi, then served in the Army National Guard. Following his military service, Mike began his career in the transportation business and co-founded Southern Intermodal Express (SIX), where his devout work ethic and entrepreneurial drive helped grow the successful company. Mike and Lynn married in August 1984.
Mike was an active member of First Baptist Church Fairhope. He was a man of faith who lived his life to the fullest. He was an outdoorsman, avid hunter, enjoyed traveling and reading. He spent his retirement years attending endless sporting events, piano recitals, graduations, birthdays, and all things involving his family.
To Lynn, his wife of 39 years, he was a loving, charming, devoted, thoughtful and selfless husband. He served as a strong leader and provider for their family who meant the world to him.
To his children and grandchildren, he was fully involved in their activities. He appreciated and encouraged the individual interests of each one and boasted with pride at their accomplishments. When he spoke, they listened as he was always wise with his words. Honest, knowledgeable, practical, and fair; he offered solutions and guidance without judgement.
To his family, friends, hunting buddies and church family, he was generous, kind, charitable and dependable. His quiet confidence, jovial spirit, and sense of humor were recognized by all who knew him.
Mike Reedy leaves a legacy that will carry on through his wife, children, and grandchildren as he was a true role model and mentor to all.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Lowe Reedy of Fairhope, AL.
